Do you have kids? When you’re childless not by choice
I give grace when people unknowingly ask a question that feels intrusive. I know it isn’t on purpose. However, I do expect the same grace in return. Saying “no” to the “do you have kids” question shouldn’t be a show stopping moment. We can just move on. We likely have other areas of mutual interest. Others shouldn’t be defined by motherhood the same way I am not defined by not being a mother. Plus, we haven’t even gotten to the part where you ask me if I’m married and I say, “that’s a no from me dawg”. Childless and single really brings out the pity. Save it. I’m just fine. How do you handle this question and what is your experience telling people you are childless?
